You may be forgiven for forgetting all about Biomutant, the THQ Nordic-published game unveiled back at gamescom 2017. The game showed up a couple of times at conventions since then, but things have been eerily quiet for long stretches of time. Earlier this year, developer Experiment 101 confirmed that Biomutant is in the final stages of development, but didn’t show new gameplay at the time. Now, the developer guested on IGN’s Summer of Gaming to demo various bits of gameplay and talk a little bit about Biomutant....

Treyarch’s updates have been fast and furious recently in Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. The game received yet another update overnight with more fixes for League Play, and a neat change in Zombies. Starting with League Play, Treyarch has addressed the problem causing some wildly inaccurate skill ratings for players. The developer said a backend issue was contributing to many players getting either too high or too low of a skill rating....

That’s the question that Blizzard once took on, according to the game’s lead effects artist Hadidjah Chamberlin and principle narrative designer Dave Kosak in an interview with games publication PowerUp. The Hearthstone VR project was the fruit of a two week-long annual event called Free Your Mind, a hackathon put on by Blizzard where small groups of developers work on making their own modifications to popular titles. In the VR mod - made by just two of Blizzard’s developers - players could meander around virtual reality tavern, throw cards down on the table, and even flip a table over if you lost a game....

World of Warcraft legend Byron “Reckful” Bernstein tragically passed away in July. According to a report published by Polygon, players paid their respects to Bernstein by congregating at World of Warcraft’s Cathedral of Light - something Blizzard took notice of. Since then, Blizzard has added a Rogue Trainer NPC named Reckful to the World of Warcraft Shadowlands expansion, who will now permanently stand at the Cathedral of Light. The new video for The Medium is the second in Bloober Team’s premonition video series, which shines a light on how the psychological horror title plays. The latest video entitled What Does A Medium Do? explains what it means to be a medium like Marianne, and shows off some of the unique psychic abilities she is able to use to navigate the spirit world and unravel its mysteries. The Medium will release on Xbox Series X/S and PC via Steam, Epic Games Store, and the Microsoft Store on January 28....

The character was announced during a special Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Nintendo Direct earlier this month. Both versions of Byleth are playable. Byleth is available to players who own the Fighters Pass Volume 1, or alternatively, you can purchase Challenger Pack 5 separately for $5.99 or your regional equivalent. The Byleth pack also comes with the Garreg Mach Monastery stage and 11 new tracks from the Fire Emblem series. New outfits for Wii Fighter are also available....

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare was the most downloaded game in the US, while GTA 5 was the top game on the PS Store in Europe. In the US, Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition came in second, followed by NBA 2K19, GTA 5, and NBA 2K20, respectively. Over in Europe, FIFA 20, Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, and Rainbow Six Siege rounded out the top 5. The Vanguard beta has been extended by 48 hours, meaning it will now end Wednesday, September 22 at 10am PT, 1pm ET, 6pm UK. The beta’s content will not change, so don’t expect any new maps or weapons, which is a little unusual for a Call of Duty beta. Nevertheless, if you keep playing until you reach level 20, you’ll be awarded a weapon blueprint in the full game at launch....

According to Anti-Cheat Police Department, a group that reports on cheating and cheat makers, the kernel driver for Ricochet has leaked. Makers of paid cheats are seemingly already working on reverse-engineering it, which doesn’t bode well for Ricochet. Anti-Cheat Police posted screenshots of an unnamed forum where the leak was made, as well as proof of the kernel’s digital signature, belonging to Activision. There is a possibility that the leak was intentional for developers to stealthily test the effectiveness of the tech, but we can’t say for certain....

In a patch released yesterday for Call of Duty: Warzone, Infinity Ward brought back Bounty Contracts and removed the Most Wanted contract which replaced it. Fans weren’t pleased with the initial replacement, and the developers listened. The Most Wanted contract saw players become a target for all teams on the map. If you survived, you received a redeployment for all of your fallen teammates. The patch also fixed Gunsmith Custom loadouts not appearing in matches, it adjusted the timer from 10 to 15 seconds in 3v3 Cranked Gunfight, adjusted out of bounds timer in Infected and the match start timer in Infected so players could join before the countdown ended....

Call of Duty’s official Twitter account has confirmed that Wednesday, April 21 will be a big day for Warzone. The tweet doesn’t reveal much in the way of information, but it does tease an end of some description. This is more than likely the so called Warzone nuke event, which the current zombie invasion has been building towards for some time. Activision even sent influencers cards and helmets that herald the upcoming event, also pointing to the same day....

Last year, information on the company’s sales, upcoming game releases, and other financial information were breached by ransomware. This also included information on nine employees and potentially up to 350,000 others, which included former employees, company customers, and its business partners. Capcom has released an update (thanks, GI.biz) on the situation today, noting that 16,406 people, including 3,248 business partners, 9,164 former employees, and related parties had their information compromised....

The towering 9′ 6″ vampire, Lady Dimitrescu, has been making headlines for Resident Evil Village, and now Capcom is really leaning into the surprising popularity of the internet’s favorite giant woman. As per a Facebook post from Capcom Asia, the publisher is starting to publicize the game by sending out ’life-size’, to-scale cutouts of Village’s primary antagonist (thanks, TheGamer). If you’ve ever wanted to feel just how small you’d feel beside the terrifying – yet oddly captivating – woman, you might just want to seek out one of these cutouts yourself (or waiting to see if similar cutouts come West)....

Some games, like tag fighters, get more complicated. But at its core, this genre is made to be spectated by just about anybody. At the most basic level, it’s two people beating each other up until one of them can go on no longer. Super bars and the like might be a little confusing to total newcomers, but the purity of a side-on perspective and character health bars make this genre the most broadly understandable for widening the audience of spectators of competitive matches....

Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red recently went over results of the company’s first-half of the fiscal year with investors. This is the same event where the developer revealed that it doesn’t expect any more delays for the game. Final Fantasy 7 Remake’s various editions come with different bonuses, including exclusive summons DLC. Chocobo Chick, Carbuncle, and Cactuar can all be called upon to aid you in a fight, provided you have their Materia. In a series of videos, Square Enix showed off the summon animations of all three, and a few of their attacks.
