Aeon Must Die is in development at Limestone Games and will be published by Focus Home Interactive. However, shortly before its trailer aired during yesterday’s State of Play showcase, a group of people claiming to be the original developers accused Limestone of inducing crunch and committing IP theft. According to these people, they quite Limestone last week. Even the outsourced artists commissioned to work on the trailer after the original devs left were not provided with official contracts, according to the information revealed....

The news comes from Gematsu, who spotted both titles on Australia’s governmental classification website. Battletoads is pretty much PG across the board, while Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition is marked as having “very mild” language. Both games’ ratings were posted yesterday, July 20, and the pair will be published by Microsoft. This just adds more fuel to the fire that Age of Empires 3: Definitive Edition is likely closer than we anticipated....

Ten years after the release of Amnesia: The Dark Descent, Frictional Games has provided a new trailer announcing the release date for the horror sequel, Amnesia: Rebirth. Scheduled to arrive on October 20 on PC and PlayStation 4, pre-orders are now open on Steam, GOG, Epic Games Store, and the PlayStation Store. One notable Animal Crossings player is Joshua Wong, Hong Kong’s secretary-general of the pro-democracy party Demosisto. Wong has been using New Horizons to create political commentary and satirical content amid the Coronavirus lockdown. In the wake of images hitting social media last week, listings for the game have been taken down from online stores in China including Pinduoduo and Taobao - the latter owned by Alibaba. Tech news publication Ping West reports that some resellers on Taobao commented that the store directed them to stop selling the title through the platform....

If you’re a regular Apex Legends player, you may not be surprised to hear that the hit FPS game is once again suffering with server issues. Respawn and EA’s free-to-play battle royale hit Apex Legends is set to come to Nintendo Switch in March. The news was confirmed by EA, who said that the game was launching on the machine on March 9 with cross-play support. Players who buy the Season 8 Battle Pass will be given 30 free levels and those who play the Switch edition will earn double XP for the two weeks after release, to help them catch up with other platforms....

Planned for release in 2023, Blue Protocol will be coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, and was shown off during this week’s The Game Awards. DICE recently capped the character progression you can earn per day playing solo/co-op, but the developer did not touch the weapon XP side of that - the real reason why you’d want to jump into a bot game anyway. Unlocking gun attachments in Battlefield 2042 is, frankly, a steep grind. It doesn’t help that so many of them are simple cosmetic variations that don’t make any new changes to how the weapon performs....

DICE has announced that when the 6.2 update to Battlefield 5 releases next week, it will include tank customization options. The ability to customize your tank was promised in January, and now it will finally be available on March 4. When customizing your tanks, there will be three options to choose from: Paint Job, Chassis Dressing, and Turret Dressing. You will be able to purchase various options using Company Coin and Battlefield Currency....

In an interview with GQ, Sony Interactive Entertainment CEO Jim Ryan stated that releasing a new IP – that is, a title in a wholly new franchise – is a “very risky” move thanks to the massive costs associated with such a release. “We’ve invested a lot organically over the course of the PS4 generation, more than people realise,” explains Ryan. “We’ve added Insomniac Games through acquisition.
