Microsoft will be hosting a live celebration of the launch of Xbox Series X and Series S on Tuesday, November 10, the consoles’ global launch day. The platform holder, however, cautioned that you should not expect any big news on the show. It’s more of an opportunity to celebrate gaming, and honour the launch of its new consoles in the process. “We invite you to grab your device of choice and play alongside Team Xbox, your favourite creators, and our partners, right from your homes around the world,” wrote Xbox chief Phil Spencer....

Sega has announced Yakuza: Like a Dragon will be released in November on PC and current-gen consoles in the west. While an exact date was not provided, it could possibly arrive on the 12th if the Microsoft Store listing is any indication. It was also announced today the game would be made available on PS5. The game is also heading to Xbox Series X as well. It will be made available at launch for XSX and release at a later date on PS5....

Sega’s Yakuza franchise has enjoyed something of a resurgence in recent years. After not being localized for western releases for a while, the action-adventure series with a dash of RPG went on to have huge success with Yakuza 0 and a series of remakes - but for a long time it remained a PlayStation exclusive. That all changed in recent years with PC releases of Yakuza 0 and the Kiwami remakes of the first two titles in the series - and soon after, Xbox versions followed, even launching as part of Game Pass....

Speaking in an interview with IGN ahead of today’s Lost Judgment reveal, Yakuza creator Toshihiro Nagoshi and producer Kazuki Hosokawa said the decision was made after the success of Yakuza: Like a Dragon. If you want a straight-up action series set in the world of Yakuza, Lost Judgment and its predecessor will have to do. “The Yakuza series has been transformed into a turn-based RPG,” said the duo. “On the other hand, over the years, Ryu ga Gotoku Studio has accumulated resources and know-how of making flashy and exhilarating action games that are effortless to enjoy....

Ubisoft doesn’t seem to be in the best health at the moment, at least based on the rate it’s cancelling games. Last year it cancelled four titles, including a Ghost Recon game, and just last week it cancelled three more, as well as delayed Skull and Bones for the umpteenth time. So you would think a game notorious for its lengthy development period, Beyond Good and Evil 2, would also end up on the cutting room floor....

Similar to the PlayStation Wrap-Up tool Sony created, MyDecadeOnXbox tracks everything you did on Xbox during the 2010s. What it does, is creates an infographic with detailed stats on your gameplay and even estimates the price you paid at the time the game released. Valve has rolled out a new beta update for Steam. The release’s biggest addition comes to Remote Play Together, the feature that allows playing local co-op games online, even if the games don’t natively support online play. This big release makes it possible for owners of any game that supports Remote Play Together to invite even non-Steam users to play. Steam now creates a session link, viewable in the friends list, which can be shared with anyone....

If Microsoft’s acquisition of Bethesda parent company ZeniMax is approved by the European Commission (EC), it will be merged into a new subsidiary called Vault. That’s according to a notification from the EC, in which the organisation says that the Xbox firm intends to merge this newly-created Vault subsidiary “with and into” ZeniMax. In short, it sounds like this means that the Bethesda parent will be its own company – Vault – under the control of Microsoft....

Google has announced a round of promotions to help remind everyone that Stadia is a thing that exists. This all starts with three days of demos, which kicked off last night. October 20, 21 and 22 will each see one demo or beta of a game made available for anyone to play. The demos do not require a Stadia Pro subscription, so there’s really no barrier to entry, unless you live in a country where Stadia has yet to launch....

Doom Eternal initially launched on Nintendo Switch back in 2020, with hard copies on offer. Pre-orders piled in, and in true Bethesda fashion, it all went a little wrong for one reason or another. A month prior to release, Bethesda announced that Doom Eternal would not have a physical release on the Switch, and all of those who had pre-ordered would be refunded. Fans who eagerly anticipated the game weren’t too pleased to see the physical release for Switch cancelled, as is to be expected....

Per the Washington Post, over 60 workers walked out from the company on Monday, and the protest continues still, with workers outlining no set date that they’ll return. Not ideal for Activision Blizzard, given there’s a brand new Call of Duty Warzone map out. Worse yet, the cuts come after a five-week period of overtime leading up to the launch of the newest map in Warzone. This week, 2K Games revealed new details about the upcoming NBA 2K21. In the press release, the publisher confirmed that the game’s standard edition will be priced $70 on PS5 and Xbox Series X, making it the first AAA game to commit to higher pricing on next-gen consoles. This doesn’t appear to be an isolated decision. According to research company IDG, other publishers are also considering raising the base price of their AAA games to $70, a $10 increase....
