Shaun Escayg announced his departure from Crystal Dynamics on Twitter, and stated he was “happy to be back” at Naughty Dog (thanks, Gamasutra). Escayg went on to say the Marvel’s Avengers was left in “good hands” with the current team. After seven years with Naughty Dog, Escayg left the company in 2018 to work at Crystal Dynamics where he oversaw the single-player campaign of Marvel’s Avengers. Which project Escayg will be working on at Naughty Dog is unknown, but as Gamasutra notes, in the past he was creative director on Uncharted: The Lost Legacy and also had a hand in Uncharted 4 and The Last of Us....

In a blog post today, the developer said the reason for the Kate Bishop delay for Marvel’s Avengers is to have a “fixed, predictable patching cycle,” with time for extensive testing before new content is released. The team also made the decision to move the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S release into 2021 to ensure it gives the team time to “deliver a next-gen experience showcasing all that this game is meant to be....

Sony has provided details on what to expect from the updated version of Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered which is included as a voucher with Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales: Ultimate Edition on PS5. According to Sony, this version of Spider-Man is a “full next-gen remastering” with new assets, technology, updates, and three new suits. With the graphics, Insomniac updated the city’s environment wth improved models, materials, ray-traced reflections, and ambient shadows. With these improvements, you will see better reflections in the windows of buildings, along with new skies and weather....

This latest release comes from Arcade1Up, as a brand new arcade cabinet, bringing things full circle. The cabinet was announced at fighting game championship series Evo, unsurprisingly, and it will make it the most recent, easily available release of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 in years. You’ll be able to pre-order the cabinet from September 8, and while a price hasn’t been announced yet, you can probably expect it to cost around $449....

The inspiration behind the peculiar advertising campaign is actually pretty interesting. Microsoft noted that it invited a selection of known gaming personalities (including BlindGamerSteve, Emericagirl24, Stallion83, Odell Beckham Jr, MoonLiteWolf, and more) to engage with some lucid dream experiments after they’d played the Xbox Series X. Each personality was paired with an artist in order to create a product based on their experience – and Waititi was paired up with MoonLiteWolf, and ended up lending his unique directorial style to the streamer’s dreams in order to create the… experience… we can see embedded below....

Tech giant Microsoft has asked the European Union to approve its multi-billion dollar purchase of Bethesda parent company ZeniMax Media. The Xbox firm requested European Commission approval on Friday, January 29 and has requested that it give the deal the thumbs up. Reuters reports that EU regulators have to give a ruling on this deal by March 5. The deal can be cleared - with or without concessions - but the EC can also open a full investigation into the acquisition if it has concerns about antitrust....

Microsoft Flight Simulator will be released on PC on August 18. The PC version will be available through the Microsoft Store, as well as Xbox Game Pass for PC. The Xbox One version does not yet have a release date. Pre-orders are already live, with three editions to choose from. Each one includes access to a set number of planes and airports. The standard ($60) comes with 20 planes and 30 airports - this is the version included with Xbox Game Pass....

The latest trailer for Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin provides a first look at a mysterious light causing monsters to enter an enraged frenzy, Monster Dens where you can delve for new eggs, and the Rite of Channeling feature. The trailer also teased new story details about the protagonist’s connection with Razewing Ratha, the whereabouts of their grandfather the legendary Monster Rider Red. While the connection between the rage rays, the global disappearance of Rathalos, and the birth of Razewing Ratha is unclear, you can rely on your Battle Buddy Avinia and her Monstie Frostfang who make their return from Monster Hunter Stories to help unravel the mystery....

Update: Capcom has delivered the patch it announced earlier this week. The 254MB update released on Steam overnight, bringing the game’s version to 10.12.01. As promised, the patch allows the game to convert the old save format into the new one for players who had not played since the format was changed in late 2018. Those who ran into that infamous error should now be able to resume from where they left off, so start your game and try it out....

If ripping people in half and pulling out their spine isn’t your thing, you’ll now be able to use gore-free Friendship moves with each character. It’s free for all players, including those who purchase Aftermath, and you can check out what you’ll get in the expansion here. Much like regular Fatalities, there’s a sequence of buttons you’ll need to enter to perform the Friendship Finisher. All finishers are performed by using direction keys then a number, which corresponds to a button on the control pad of your choice....

Voice actors for other characters are also mentioned in the article, which means you can expect Goro, Jax Briggs, Kano, Kitana, Lui Kang, Quan Chi, Raiden, Shang Tsung, Sub-Zero and more to make an appearance....
