CD Projekt is working on a new patch for Cyberpunk 2077 which will address police response, driving, and will add an unstuck feature to the game. With the police, the patch will decrease the problem of NPCs spawning behind players’ backs and create an impression that it takes some time for the police to arrive at the crime scene after the crime has been reported. The team has also added a recon “drone” unit to “create the feeling of the police assessing the situation....
But, as is now standarad practice for the seemingly everything to do with this troubled game, some players have been unable to upgrade from last-gen to this gen. Most of the players having this issue are in Europe, where the disc copy of the game they purchased at launch came with a different region code to their physical location. The problem? A CDPR support page notes that you’re only eligable for the upgrade if your game matches the region you’re in....

Bungie has confirmed that crossplay will be coming to its online sci-fi shooter Destiny 2 next year. In an update on the studio’s website from Destiny 2 assistant game director Joe Blackburn, the developer revealed that crossplay is on track to be rolled out in 2021. There’s no word yet on what Bungie has planned for this functionality, i.e. whether all players will be together in one pool, but guess we’ll know more next year....

As with practically all recent Call of Duty games, Black Ops Cold War has one early weapon unlock that’s dominating engagements in multiplayer, and outclassing guns it shouldn’t be. We’re talking, of course, about the MP5 SMG, which boasts a high rate-of-fire, making it deadly in close range. It also has impressive ranged damage, to the point AR users have switched to it as their main now. EA and loot boxes are pretty synonymous with one another, so it’s very understandable if you have some apprehensions about Full Circle’s new Skate game. Concerns have also been growing slightly since a recent Insider Gaming report claimed that Skate does have a loot box system built into the game currently. Seemingly in response to this, the official Skate Twitter account posted a tweet with a reminder that the game is “not pay-to-win,” has “no map areas locked behind paywall, no paid loot boxes,” and “no paid gameplay advantages....
Those who follow games industry news likely already knew, from earlier reports, that Star Wars: Squadrons wouldn’t be a full price, $60 game. Motive’s project didn’t spend long in development, and it was a perfect candidate to bolster EA’s line-up in the fall. Enter Squadrons: a multiplayer-focused $40 game. That lower price essentially tells players that they shouldn’t expect a massive game, and that was indeed EA’s intention. In a call following EA’s Q2 FY2021 earnings, the publisher was asked why it went with that price, as opposed to either of the more common extremes ($60, free-to-play)....
Electronic Arts has confirmed that hackers have bypassed its servers and managed to take a wealth of the firm’s private data, including source code for FIFA 21 and EA’s proprietary Frostbite engine (which just-announced game Battlefield 2042 is being developed in).
