Fortnite and Epic Games have had quite the day. On Thursday, the developer decided to allow Android and iOS users to pay it directly when buying V-Bucks, effectively circumventing Apple and Google’s 30% cut on transactions. Just a few hours after Epic direct was implemented, Apple pulled Fortnite off the App Store. Seemingly expecting this reaction, Epic quickly retaliated, filing a lawsuit against Apple. Epic also hosted a parody of Apple’s 1984 ad, dubbed Nineteen Eighty-Fortnite, at the in-game theatre and on YouTube....

In the latest development of Epic Games’ battle with Apple, a judge has ruled that Fortnite can remain off the App Store, but Apple cannot remove Unreal Engine and its tools. Following Epic’s spat with Apple over the right to offer an alternative payment option in Fortnite that circumvents Apple’s payment system, the iPhone maker pulled the game off the App Store. Later, Apple gave Epic Games a couple of weeks to make Fortnite compliant with its policies once again, or risk losing Unreal Engine tools and getting its developer access revoked....

Valve announced today on Twitter Half-Life: Alyx will be released on March 23. If you plan on picking the VR title up, you can expect it to be around the same size as Half-Life 2. Within just one hour after its surprise launch, Halo Infinite boasted a wild 100,000 concurrent players on Steam, rising to a massive 272,000+ at its peak during its first day on the servers. These numbers only focus on Steam players. So that doesn’t include anyone logging in and playing through the Xbox app for Windows, or playing via console. It’s safe to assume that the Xbox player count dwarfed those Steam numbers, too – anecdotally, my entire friends list was on Halo Infinite last night, and I bet I’m not the only one....

Let’s be real here - constructive criticism good, vehement backlash towards people you don’t know on the internet bad. I would like to think 343 Industries was more swayed by thoughtful consideration from long-time fans of the series than xTrueGamer69x having a cry because Master Chief remembered he could run, but who knows. Either way, the entire story of Infinite was reworked because fans disliked Halo 5 (I didn’t play 5 because I disliked 4, but I just looked up the plot of 5 and… oh)....
