Shovel Knight Pocket Dungeon, a spin-off featuring many of the characters you’ll recognize from the original games and its expansions (plus a few new ones, to boot) was first announced by Yacht Club for Nintendo Switch way back in February 2020. The game was supposed to arrive in Fall 2020, but – like so many other games over the past few years – it got nudged back. At least we’ve got a proper launch window, now, though: during Nintendo’s Indie World Showcase today, we learned that the charming-looking title now has a new winter 2021 release window....

See, many players seem to think that when the cuties run away from you in the game, they lead you to treausure if followed. Considering sometimes they run twoard ruins, or burial mounds, it may seem if that is the case. However, according a former Bethesda developer, leading the player to loot was not programmed into Skyrim. Speaking in a techy tread on Twitter regarding the development of Skyrim’s NPCs, the game’s former level designer Joel Burgess explained how it may seem as though the critters are leading you to some of the treasures the environment may hold....

This comes following a very successful box office return from Sonic The Hedgehog 2, which crossed over the $400 million mark before its run was done (check out this Nintendo Life article for more info). It seems that as though Sonic’s journey through the world of family-friendly cinema is more of a marathon than a sprint. For those who didn’t watch the previous film, it was pretty good actually, seemingly breaking the curse of awful video game film movie adaptations that seemed an unavoidable barrier for other properties over the past few decades....

The Sonic pack for Two Point Hospital is now available for players as a way to celebrate the blue blur’s 30th anniversary. With the free pack, you can enjoy a range of new costumes and items such as the ability to dress your staff as Sonic, Amy, Knuckles, and Tails. There is also a new Sonic statue available alongside decorative rugs and even a giant Gold Ring. And for those who have yet to try out the fun management sim, the game is free to play or discounted on PC and select consoles this weekend....

Further to that, we’re starting to see players figure out some wild glitches and bugs in the title. Just last night, a Twitch streamer discovered that you can effectively skip all of the ‘& Knuckles’ portion of Sonic 3 & Knuckles by restarting and heading to Hidden Palace. Eep. But how did the game launch in this condition – after all, we’ve seen plenty of Sonic re-releases in our time, and they’ve all turned out pretty good....

PlayStation boss Jim Ryan has decided not to disclose if the upcoming God of War: Ragnarok will be cross-generational. God of War: Ragnarok is sure to be lighting up the eyes of early adopters of the PS5. While players make their way through the new console’s launch line-up, Sony Santa Monica’s next effort is one of, if not the biggest PlayStation exclusive on the horizon. The idea of a game in the series designed just for the PS5 is a salivating one....

One of these games is Horizon: Zero Dawn, but it won’t be available until April 19, and only until May 14. But to hold you over, starting March 25, there’s Abzu, Enter the Gungeon, Rez Infinite, Subnautica, and The Witness. Also starting on March 25, PS VR owners can download Astro Bot Rescue Mission and the adorable Moss. Then, on the same day, Thumper and Paper Beast will be available....

Sony announced today the Camouflaj-developed PlayStation VR-exclusive, Iron Man VR, has been delayed. The news was announced alongside the delay for The Last of Us: Part 2. At the time, the studio said the delay would give it time to meet high expectations....

Sony has a few events in the works that will provide a closer look at their new system, according to a new report from VentureBeat. The first of these will be in early June - it was initially planned for June 4 but the exact date remains unclear for now beyond the early June timeframe. This will apparently feature the company’s roster of next-gen titles, including first-party games and beyond....

The denial comes on the heels of a Bloomberg report which claimed Sony had originally planned to end PS4 production in 2021. Saying this is not the case at all, Sony told NLab production and sales of PS4 consoles was already in the plan to continue in conjunction with PS5. In contrast, Microsoft stopped producing Xbox One S and Xbox One X consoles at the end of 2020. The company stopped making Xbox One X back in July 2020, but Xbox One S manufacturing continued until the end of the year....

Ahead of any day one patches that may arrive for the title, it looks like the next-gen title is going to take up a big chunk of your solid-state drive space. After the revelation that the Ultimate Edition of the game will arrive with a remastered version of the base PS4 game at the PS5 Showcase, we’ve now got an idea of just how much space the game will take up....

Street dates of games can often be broken by a day or so, whether it comes to a delivery service just getting a package somewhere early, or a store being a bit cheeky and letting a friend buy a copy a day early. Unfortunately for Nintendo, a tonne of gameplay has already leaked online just under a week before the game is out week, September 9. As spotted by Kotaku, gameplay has been appearing all over the Splatoon subreddit, though the subreddit is removing any posts that shows anything that hasn’t been previously revealed in an official capacity, considering that it would technically be a spoiler....

This Chill Season kicks off in Splatoon 3 on December 1, and looks like it should liven things up again since the game launched in September. So far we’ve had a couple of Splatfests, one of them just over the weekend which was a collaboration with Pokemon, but this upcoming update will add in a couple of news modes. First up is the arrival of X Battles, a new mode for the series that’s more about your skill level than anything else....

Back in May, Square Enix announced it was selling off Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montreal, the studios behind Tomb Raider and Deus Ex respectively. Now, as reported by Polygon, Square Enix has explained in its financial results that this is due to the fact that games from its Western studios might have been cannibalising the sales of its other games, according to analyst David Gibson. Gibson noted that the sale of the studios and their IPs would have the potential to “improve capital efficiency,” i....

Star Wars: Squadrons, Dragon Ball FighterZ, and Yooka-Laylee are free to play from today through Sunday with Xbox Live Gold. Each will be available for Xbox Live Gold and Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members. The CEO of troubled Swedish games firm Starbreeze says that the company is “much stronger” than it was 12 months ago, but money problems could still be on the horizon. In its financial report for 2020, acting chief exec Tobias Sjogren said that the developer and publisher is “thirsting for revenge” after a pretty dismal few years. “Starbreeze is a much stronger company today than it was one year ago,” he told investors....

“We are actually not planning to disable downloading old builds,” a statement provided to PC Gamer notes. “What we are working on is an approach on handling edge cases involving unowned content, and helping partners more easily take down builds that need to be removed for things like copyright issues. We’ll have more to share on that work when it’s ready to ship.” As we reported yesterday, these issues are largely to do with how Steam handles authentication and file downloads, so it looks like the files that were uncovered in the beta client build are simply prototypes designed for more specific situations....
