That’s the name of the school-cum-mercenary academy in which the main character, Squall, sets out on his journey. In an operatic, cinematic, and didactic opening cutscene, we see Squall engaged in a gunblade battle with erstwhile rival and antagonist, Seifer Almasy....

It’s happening September 17th, and will be livestreamed on YouTube, Twitch, and Steam at 12 PM PT / 3 PM ET / 8 PM BST. Hosted by Geoff Keighley, the showcase will feature six upcoming games, including “the return of legendary franchises, including some for which fans have been waiting for decades to get their hands on a new installment,” THQ Nordic promises, as well as sequels to beloved games....

GamesIndustry.biz shared the story of UK-based Luke Wiltshire last week, a video game fan who was unfortunately diagnosed with a rare form of cancer when he was 14. As well as being a video game fan, Luke also had a lot of love for Marvel. Unfortunately, after nine years of treatment, Luke was told last year that there were no more options left, and he would be receiving end-of-life care....

Nintendo, Sony, Capcom, and Konami - among others - each took a major hit today on Japan’s stock exchange. As noted by game developer Dr. Serkan Toto, Nintendo finished the day at -3.96%, Sony at -7.31%, Koei at -5.41%, Capcom at -6.68%, Konami at -6.76%, Sega at -6.74%, Square Enix at -5.79%, and Nipon Ichi at a whopping -17.58%. “I’ve been following ~50 Japanese game stocks for over 10 years now,” wrote Toto on Twitter....

Patch notes for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne title update 3.5 have been provided by Capcom. The update will be released on all platforms tomorrow, as all updates for PC are now syncing up consoles. Patch 13.50 sees Kulve Taroth added to master rank alongside a quest for Arch-tempered Namielle. Changes include an increased number of weapons that can use the layered weapon feature, and Appraisal weapons are now easier to obtain from the Kulve Taroth Siege....

Earlier this week, over 500 (now over 1,000) current and former Ubisoft staff members signed an open letter to the company, criticizing the French publisher’s failure to deliver proper change after last year’s scandal involving members of upper management. In response, company CEO Yves Guillemot sent a mail to employees, reiterating previous statements made after the scandal broke, stating that the company has made “important progress” over the past year and that the firm takes the issues raised in this week’s letter seriously....

Enterprising players in the hit survival game have figured out that you can easily move carts full of goods from island to island by attaching them to boats – rather than using resources to build bridges and transport them via land. Since the survival game is heavily inspired by Norse mythology, it stands to reason that Valheim has a vast selection of boats and longships that you can use to explore the world – but in various threads over on Reddit, we’re seeing players attach their carts to longships and boats instead....

The company released the new Steam Deck trailer earlier this week to promote the fact you no longer needed a reservation to order one. Spotted by eagle-eyed Nibellion (thanks, PC Gamer), you can clearly see the icon for the emulator on the Steam Deck screen in the video. Nibel’s tweet was eventually seen by Valve, and the company quickly set the video to private and issued a new trailer. This is a complaint largely aimed towards console players. As the PC community is largely used to push-to-talk and the issues around a hot mic, it’s those on consoles, specifically the PS5 strangely enough, who appear to be the biggest source of guilty parties. But first, a detailed breakdown of the problem. In Modern Warfare 2 and indeed Warzone 2, you can communicate with other players via voice chat. Nothing extraordinary there, but since the PS5 controller has a built in mic that is automatically enabled upon booting up the console, this means players have been jumping into MW2 games blaring awful rap, eating the crunchiest of crisps, and slurping their gamer drinks right into everyone’s ears....

Season 5 adds two new perks that seem handy on the surface, but each has a significant caveat that makes them potentially less useful in practice. Raven could alter each as the season progresses depending on how players use them, though, and we’ll update if that’s the case. Warzone new perks | Is Combat Scout worth it? The large, free update for Fallout 76 was originally slated for a fall release last year. You will be able to enjoy the Wastelanders expansion starting April 7 on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC through Bethesda.net. The game will also arrive on Steam the same day, and Wastelanders will be available to anyone who purchases the standard or deluxe editions of the game. In addition to introducing fully voiced NPCs to the world of Fallout 76, the update includes a new storyline, locations, enemies, new weapons, a new reputation system and more....

In Watch Dogs: Legion, Zero-Day, an unknown entity, has framed DedSec for bombings that contributed to the fall of London. In the game, you will work to liberate London by building a resistance. Last week, we saw a clip of Eris walking on Europa, Jupiter’s moon. In the latest teaser, we saw a hooded Drifter on his way to Europa with a flaming coin, prompting rumours about a new storyline with the Gambit king. The Drifter has been embroiled with the Nine and The Darkness before, and players will remember choosing between the Light and Dark during the Forsaken DLC. Fans also noticed that Eris seems to be conjuring what looks to be a Charge of Light from the Dreaming City, and there have long been rumours that big bad Mara Sov is returning this season, alongside the mysterious Exo Stranger....

This new adventure for 1-4 players in GTA Online will be available as a free download next Tuesday, December 15. It features an all-new island Heist location, high-profile musical guests, and more. The island is home to El Rubio who is a narcotrafficker and supplier to the Madrazo family.
