One of the biggest questions facing Disney’s Star Wars after the end of the Skywalker saga has been where the series goes next. No one is clear on whether the next set of films will travel to the past, future or to unexplored regions of the galaxy - just that it won’t involve Skywalkers. According to Making Star Wars, a blog with a fairly decent track record when it comes Star Wars leaks, the next era of Star Wars will take place 400 years before the Skywalker saga in a time it dubbed The High Republic....

Then, when I finally managed to finish things off and tie up my loose ends across Hackett’s Quarry, I realised that while Until Dawn still reigns supreme, that doesn’t mean The Quarry can’t serve up scares like they’re marshmallows on a stick. The Quarry is - by no means whatsoever - a bad game. There are many moments of animated awkwardness and general jank that can hook you out from an otherwise seriously immersive moment, but aside from that, Hackett’s Quarry is seething with some fucked-up fun (for you, but not so much for any of the characters involved)....

Gears 5, according to John Linneman, still uses dynamic resolution scaling on Xbox Series X, but according to a pixel count, it averages out to around 1728p during gameplay and goes into full 2160p in less “busy” situations. The lower bounds are still 1080p, which is similar to Xbox One X yet Xbox One X could drop to near 1080p more often. “The multiplayer mode is a little more aggressive with its dynamic resolution solution owing to its higher performance targets - yes, 120 frames per second is the target - but it still looks solid,” the article reads....

Tokyo Game Show (TGS) 2020, previously set for September 24-27, will not be hosting a physical event this year due to coronavirus. TGS organisers revealed, however, that there are plans to host an online event in its place. This is the first time in TGS history, since its inception in 1996, that the event has been cancelled. No specifics about said digital replacement have been revealed as part of today’s announcement....

Torchlight 3 is now in Early Access on Steam. If you want to get your hands on Torchlight 3 early, you can head to Steam and grab it through Early Access. The game takes place a century after the events of Torchlight 2, and the Ember Empire is in decline. Once again, the world is under threat and it’s up to you to save it from Netherim and its allies....

Echtra Games is the developer of Torchlight 3 and is made up of former Runic Games developers which created the first two Torchlight games. The studio is led by founder Max Schaefer, who previously worked on Diablo, Diablo 2, and all Torchlight titles. According to Zynga, the studio’s pedigree is what drew the company to make the acquisition, via GI.biz. “Max and his team at Echtra Games are responsible for some of the most legendary game properties ever created, and they are experts in the action RPG genre and cross-platform development,” said Zynga CEO Frank Gibeau....

According to Traveller’s Tales founder Jon Burton, the studio best known for creating LEGO games pitched a game based on The Hobbit and spent $1 million on it. Burton said in his GameHut video, which shows footage of the failed pitch for Xbox 360, the demo was designed to convince Peter Jackson the studio was well equipped to produce a game outside of the LEGO series. The pitch was also to be sent to Guillermo del Toro who was at one time attached to direct the film....

Twitch has released an official statement regarding allegations made against a number of streamers, which were made public as part of another #Metoo wave that saw multiple Twitch partners accused of sexual misconduct and abuse. The livestreaming platform has been reviewing these cases, and it says it has already permanently banned the most severe. “In many of the cases, the alleged incident took place off Twitch, and we need more information to make a determination,” Twitch explained....

Twitch has recently released some information about its incoming multiplayer ads, which are now in closed beta testing across a select number of channels. These multiplayer ads leverage the platform’s strengths to show multiple viewers the same ad at the same time, allowing streamers to run a poll based on the content shown which can unlock Bits for every person that responds to the poll. Twitch has noted that multiplayer ads build on shared experiences within livestreams, create more engagement for streamers, and provide advertisers with information on the preferences of participants (which, in theory, could lead to more tailored and appropriate ads arriving on the platform in the future)....

The feature allows creators and viewers to connect by watching movies or TV shows together through Prime Video. How it works, is you share the screen. Your webcam appears in the video player above Chat so your community can see you react to everything going on in what you are watching. Viewers around the world can participate in Watch Parties if the title is available with a Prime or Prime Video subscription in their region....

Ubisoft has announced - late on a Sunday no less - that it’s revealing the next game in Tom Clancy’s universe today in a livestream. The show kicks off at 11am PT, 2pm ET, 7pm UK, and we’ve embedded the YouTube player below. While Ubisoft’s teaser for the new game was a brief, stylised video, the publisher teamed up with IGN and GameSpot to help promote the game. Both outlets shared snippets of gameplay, with the promise of more once the game has been officially revealed....

For context, it was recently announced that three of Ubisoft’s top executives are leaving the company, effective immediately. Maxime Beland also resigned from his role of Vice President Editorial last week after having been suspended alongside Tommy Francois, who is also a VP. Both have been accused of “at least three claims of misconduct....

Since the approximately $69 billion acquisition was first announced during the very beginning of 2022, there has been a repeated back and forth, as regulators globally investigate the merger, and what impact it may have on competition in the markets. Just recently, it was revealed that the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) is seeking to block Microsoft’s acquisition of Activision Blizzard. There’s also been a back and forth between Microsoft and Sony as the two companies argue for or against the acquisition, with Microsoft stating that, “Call of Duty gamers are neither ‘special’ nor ‘unique’ in terms of either their spending or user engagement as compared to gamers that favor other popular franchises....
