Sorry baseball fans, your chance to knock one out of the park in specifically the year 2021 is running out soon, as from April 16 MLB The Show 21 will no longer be available to play on Game Pass. Which includes both the Xbox One and the Xbox Series X|S versions of the game. This probably has something to do with the fact that MLB The Show 22 is out tomorrow, April 5, and will be available day one on Game Pass....
The commercial shows a dog being ignored by the family as it busies itself with Halo, Microsoft Flight Simulator, Minecraft, and Microsoft Teams. Sad about being ignored, the poor doggie falls asleep and starts dreaming of playing around in Minecraft, flying a plane, and going on Teams call with other pups. The update adds a natively rendered 4K dashboard on Xbox Series X consoles which increases sharpness and text readability. Prior to this week’s update, the Xbox Series X dashboard, Guide, and other menus were upscaled from 1080p to 4K. Now, if you have Xbox Series X connected to a 4K display will see the dashboard natively rendered in 4K while browsing the Home, My Games & Apps, Guide, and many other features....
Microsoft has announced its lineup of free games for Xbox Live Gold subscribers in May 2021, and the list consists of Armello, Dungeons 3, LEGO Batman, and Tropico 4. Armello, in which a “grim fairytale board game comes to life”, is available for the entire month and fuses all the best bits of tabletop gaming into a light RPG system. It’s usually available for $19.99 on the Xbox Store. Dungeons 3 is available from May 16 to June 15 and usually costs about $29....
Keen gamers around the world have struggled to get their hands on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles since launch, and it looks like things aren’t going to get any easier for eager consumers any time soon. During last week’s Jefferies Interactive Entertainment Conference (transcribed by Seeking Alpha), Microsoft’s chief financial officer Tim Stuart acknowledged the supply/demand disparity with the new hardware and suggested it’s going to last a while longer yet....
Scorn is the horror first-person game form Ebb Software. The game has been in development for a while following a successful Kickstarter campaign, but remerged earlier this year when it was officially announced for Xbox Series X/S. Since then, however, things have been very quiet. The game does not yet have a release date, for instance. But you won’t have to wait too much longer to see it in action....

The report is relatively lengthy, but one of the biggest takeaways can be communicated pretty succinctly. Essentially, Sony has decided that it will make more of its catalog available on PC after the success of recent ports for games like Death Stranding and Horizon: Zero Dawn - the latter of which launched with a build of questionable integrity. “Sony Interactive Entertainment aims to achieve robust revenue growth by accelerating the virtuous cycle that has been established for the PlayStation Platform,” the report reads....
Microsoft’s 343 Industries is bringing some tweaks to Halo: The Master Chief Collection’s field-of-view (FOV) settings. The developer revealed in a blog post that its next “public flight” test would be kicking off on Thursday, February 18 and that it introduces an FOV slider on Xbox One consoles. Folks playing the sci-fi shooter on Xbox Series X and Series S will also now longer have their FOV slider locked when the game is running at 120hz....
The fourth kit to be made available in Nintendo’s range of quirky cardboard accessories, the VR Kit includes a set of goggles and a blaster that can be used to play a range of virtual reality games on the Switch. Many of these are found on a cartridge that comes with the VR Kit, while there are others that adapt existing Switch games such as Breath of the Wild and Super Mario Odyssey to add VR support....
According to PlayStationSize, while looking through PSN for updates, a PS5 entry was found with a download size of over 80GB without update. This could mean a PS5 version of the game is imminent, and this also means you can probably expect the Xbox Series X/S version to arrive around the same time, if not the same day. The game is already backward compatible with both PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, but a native version would be nice, what with the consoles having fast loading times, higher resolution, and better framerates....
As spotted by VGC, this new software has been downloaded to consoles and appears to allow users to use their PlayStation 5 machines from their PS4. In order to be able to use this, players need to enable the Remote Play feature on the PS5, before using Wi-Fi or a code to find Sony’s new console. This application doesn’t seem to work with the PlayStation 5 hardware that’s currently out in the wild, but it does show that users will be able to stream gameplay at either 540p, 720p standard or 1080p resolutions....
Microsoft has announced a new kind of live event today, one dedicated to Age of Empires. Dubbed Age of Empires: Fan Preview, the digital event will bring us a first proper look at Age of Empires 4 gameplay. The 30-minute Fan Preview will air on Saturday, April 10 at 9am PT, 12pm ET, 4pm GMT. The show will bring us a first look at the campaigns and civilizations in Age of Empires 4, though you should also expect some news for the Definitive Editions of Age of Empires 2, and Age of Empires 3....
Being built using Unreal Engine 5, the game will feature an original storyline set between the Alien and Aliens films, and features a “battle-hardened veteran” with a vendetta against the Xenomorphs. In development with multi-platform studio and publisher Survios, little is known about the single-player, action-horror game. That will change when San Diego Comic Con 2022 rolls around on July 21. The Animal Crossing: New Horizons Wedding event takes place from June 1- 30 and you’ll be able to visit Harv’s island to take some romantic shots of Reese and Cyrus, an in-game married couple, in exchange for Heart Crystals which you swap for some cool rewards. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild was a bold reimagining of the Zelda series’ conventions, in many ways taking Link back to 1986 and building from there. Super Mario Odyssey took a similar approach, but instead built upon the core concepts of Mario’s first 3D outing from 1996. Animal Crossing New Horizons does just as good a job of providing an all-time classic as those games, but it does so more simply....
Skyrim, of course, has enjoyed the most frequent and thorough refreshing, arriving in a souped-up form in the 2016 Special Edition, and more recently in its next-next-gen Anniversary Edition, which featured some light-touch remastering (60fps and better god rays or something) and even some “new” content (a crap fishing minigame and every semi-official mod on the Creation Club store unlocked). Along with a VR release for immersion-chasers and a Switch release for the constipated, you can safely say that Skyrim is everywhere....
Dark Depths will feature a new Arenas map called Habitat, themed cosmetics that turn your Legends into terrors from the deep, and you can also enjoy weekly Flash Events. With the new Habitat map, you will be playing on one of the smallest islands in the New Antillia archipelago. Called Habitat 4, it is best known as a “Leviathan breeding ground” after Early IMC research groups found that large population of local Leviathans gravitated toward the island....
But now we’re in a new wave, I guess. Not just of the virus, but of its impacts on video games. This time last year, games that were completed as the pandemic took hold could still ship. Now, game studios are being forced to make hefty delays to offset the loss of in-studio development hours. Some development houses just weren’t prepared for home working at all. So they fall like dominoes....
