Over the past few hours, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare players have been reporting a big problem: not earning any XP after finishing matches in multiplayer. Developer Infinity Ward acknowledged the problem relatively quickly in a Tweet, but has yet to fix it. The issue for both stems from challenges, the source of many attachments and camos in Vanguard, which are either incompletable or fail to register progress. As it stand right now, players looking to create the perfect gun are having to navigate around these issues until a fix is implemented. Call of Duty: Vanguard - Assassin Proficiency isn’t available. This first major bug is an issue affecting a specific challenge for the Automaton assault rifle, which has in turn led to a domino effect for all assault rifles in the game....

Back in September a report emerged claiming that at some point in time, a Death Stranding sequel of some sort was in development for the Stadia, but was ultimately cancelled by Google Stadia’s general manager Phil Harrison as the company believed there wasn’t a market for single player games any more. Well, that report was wrong by the sounds of it, as during the 10th episode of his Brain Structure podcast, Kojima put speculation to bed (thanks, GamesRadar)....

As part of Capcom’s earnings reveal [PDF] for the publisher’s FY2020, the company touched on its plans for FY2021, which kicked off in April and goes on until the end of March 2021. By the end of the current fiscal year, Capcom expects to sell 28 million units, which is significantly up from the past three years. It will do this through 13 new SKUs, and continued sales of its back catalogue....

Castlevania Resurrection is a fairly infamous title for anyone familiar with the series – it was canceled over 20 years ago and the project was never made available to the public. It was, for the longest time, thought to be lost. Enter Comby Laurent. Laurent is a retro game fan and Dreamcast loyalist who has dedicated a wealth of time to help preserve old games. Laurent owns the website Sega Dreamcast Info Games Preservation and has managed to release a version of the 3D action-platformer on the site after winning a version of it in an auction earlier this month....

The company, posting an image to its IL Twitter account, seems to be estimating a sales revenue of 2.139 billion PLN, with net profit coming in around 1.154 billion PLN (thanks, Gamasutra). If you convert that to dollars, you’re looking at an estimated revenue of $562 million for CD Projekt Red in 2020, with about $303 million in profit for the financial year. Not bad, considering the issues that have dogged Cyberpunk 2077 since launch....

According to the studio, it will have shorter marketing phases with promotional content released closer to the actual release of the given game - similar to how Bethesda works. In other words, it won’t share as much information ahead of a game’s release as it has in the past. CD Projekt RED also plans to present its operation on all supported hardware platforms and will be “rethinking its approach” to announcing new projects....

Sometimes you play a game and just can’t help but be won over by its charm. Chicory is one such game. Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time was originally announced for PS4 and Xbox One back in June, and is due to launch on October 2, 2020. You can check out the new State of Play trailer in the video embedded below. The trailer features lots of interesting tidbits. For one, it once again confirms that Crash Bandicoot 4 is a direct sequel to Crash Bandicoot: Warped. It also mentions that you can play the whole game as Coco - and, funnily enough, you can also play as Dingodile....

What makes Crossfire X different on Xbox is that as well as being a multiplayer shooter, it now comes with a single-player campaign developed by Control and Alan Wake studio Remedy. We don’t know why, but we’re up for it. Here’s your first look, as shown today at the Xbox Games Showcase. In the trailer, you are given a look at the key characters in Operation Spectre, told from the perspective of Black List, one of the two warring mercenary factions players will meet in both campaign and multiplayer....

There are four main “Romance” questlines — with Judy, Panam, River, and Kerry — but there are several other flings and one-night-stands you can trigger if you’re that way inclined. Basically, you need to complete optional quest lines with each character, eventually unlocking a special “Romance” scene with them, which - as you can probably guess from the rest of Cyberpunk 2077 - consists mainly of knocking reinforced punk fleets like there’s no tomorrow....

Street Stories were previously revealed to be Cyberpunk 2077’s version of The Witcher 3’s monster hunting contracts, in that they’re authored experiences that last about as long as a side quest. Street Stories are designed to allow players the opportunity to explore the game’s dense world, and they’re hand-crafted by CD Projekt Red’s open world team. “I think there’s around 75 Street Stories,” CD Projekt Red’s John Mamais revealed in an interview with On MSFT....

Hotfix 1.12 fixes a vulnerability in Cyberpunk 2077 that could be used as part of remote execution, including save files. It fixed a buffer overrun issue and removed/replaced non-ASLR DLLs. The fix basically applies to the use of mods/custom saves on PC. CDP became aware of a vulnerability in external DLL files the game uses which can be used to execute code on PCs. Until a fix was issued, it suggested folks refrain from using files from unknown sources....

There’s no doubt that one of the most challenging aspects of Cyberpunk 2077 for developer CD Projekt RED will have been its all-new, projectile-driven combat. CDP has built sprawling open worlds and intricate quest lines before in The Witcher, but Geralt is no gunslinger. The monster hunter is also controlled in third person, while the world and battles of Cyberpunk are experienced through V’s eyes directly. In the second episode of the publisher’s Night City Wire video series, members of the development team took a deep dive into several aspects of the game, including weapons and combat....

Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt hosted a short conference call following news of the game’s delay to clarify a couple of details and answer some investor questions. More specifically, the developer touched on its approach to next-gen and how it plans to handle the upgrade process. Now that the game will presumably be releasing closer to the launch of PS5 and Xbox Series X, CDPR said Cyberpunk 2077 will look better on next-gen platforms on day one....

The guts of it are basically identical: it plays exactly the same on all platforms, although with Xbox you do of course lose the impressive haptics of the DualSense controller. But, there is a trade-off on Series X, as far as I can tell at least: the framerate in Visual Quality mode (the one that looks nicer than performance but isn’t raytracing) is noticeably smoother on Series X, although I’d like to caveat that this is purely based on some quick A/B testing and doesn’t take into account that the two machines handle variable refresh rate differently (according to Digital Foundry, the PS5 implementation isn’t as good, for what it’s worth)....

The director of Arkane Lyon’s upcoming Deathloop, Dinga Bakaba, has said that Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass service will allow it to keep doing “creative” projects. Speaking to Press Start, the developer said that Arkane joining Xbox Game Studios as part of Microsoft acquiring Bethesda parent company ZeniMax Media came as a surprise, but that ultimately this was good news for Arkane. Deathloop is set to launch on May 21, but in an odd turn of events it isn’t coming to Xbox platforms....
