Larian Studios has issued another hotfix for Baldur’s Gate 3 along with a request to create more interesting characters. The game has a robust character creator with plenty of options to choose from, yet according to Larian, early access players aren’t creating very interesting characters. Using analytics, the team took the most popular choices in character creation and recreated a character based on the data received. Larian stated at first it thought analytics wasn’t working properly, but after checking, it was indeed working as intended. After gathering the data, the team created a character using choices made the most, and came up with something totally basic.
“Congratulations, you’ve basically made the default Vault Dweller,” stated Larian. “What the hell guys. We gave you demon eyes, horns, and even tails. We are sorely disappointed. Go crazy. We worked hard on this.” Seriously, you need to have fun with this, folks. There are plenty of options to choose from when personalizing one of the eight races and various subraces. Now, about that hotfix. One important thing this hotfix has solved is the resolution upon the death of Gale. If Gale dies, an “important item” apparently goes missing, which is required. It’s back so feel free to let him croak if you so wish. An error where payers were stealing from merchants by directly equipping the stolen items out of their inventory has been fixed. The developers have also reduced crashing but suggests players still turn on DX11 mode if experiencing frequent crashing, or graphical errors. Other fixes include a fix for crash related to showing a move preview with an AoO when in combat and a fix for crash related to surfaces requiring concentration. The next big patch will include a host of fixes for cinematics and animation as well as UI glitches.
