A new cinematic trailer shows off what CoD players can expect when Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season One arrives after a short delay on December 16. The trailer seems to suggest that Rebirth Island will be similar to the Alcatraz map from Blackout, with a few tweaks and differences here and there to make it feel new and exciting. You can see the first look at the map in the trailer embedded below. We also get our first look at the next incoming operator: Vikhor “Stitch” Kuzmin. Stitch is an ex-KGB soldier, and current leader of the Nova 6 program (which, if you’re up on your Black Ops lore, is a lethal gas that’s still being researched by insurgent forces). Nova 6, it won’t surprise you to learn, is now sneakily being manufactured on Rebirth Island. Russell Adler, who you will recognize from the Black Ops Cold War story, apparently killed the Nova 6 project and shut down Rebirth Island back in the 60s. 20 years later, Stitch has got the island up and running again and is starting to pump out Nova 6 once more. Those with eagle-eyes (and eagle… ears?) will pick up on a few more interesting crumbs in the trailer, namely: a reference to a new Gulag experience, and what appears to be a new Mall map for Black Ops Cold War set in New Jersey. “Time to settle the score,” reads a description for the video. “A trap has been set. A CIA safehouse has been hit. And an old enemy returns to get his revenge. After storming an experimental Nova 6 production site on Rebirth Island, Russell Adler has made a powerful enemy in Vikhor “Stitch” Kuzmin, the ex-KGB leader of the Nova 6 program. And Stitch is looking to settle the score. Now, Adler and his CIA strike team find themselves trapped, and surrounded by enough Nova 6 nerve gas to throw the world off its axis.” Expect to hear more news about the incoming content in the coming days. Maybe we’ll even see more news about Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War Season One at The Game Awards on December 10.
