As part of today’s Pokemon Presents broadcast, the Pokemon Company announced that Mega Evolution is coming to Pokemon Go. It will arrive sometime in 2020. Though today’s announcement was slim on the details, the developer pointed out that this will be a new take on Mega Evolution unique to Pokemon Go. Traditionally, only certain Pokemon can Mega Evolve, which boosts their power for a limited time in battles. In the more immediate term, Pokemon Go players will now be able to catch Galarian Farfetch’d, which arrives in Go from Sword and Shield’s Isle of Armor expansion. If you play both games, you’ll also get unique skins for your trainers in Go, as well as a Farfetch’d hat.
Today’s presentation also touched a little bit on this year’s fully-digital Pokemon Go Fest, tickets for which are available now. Broadly, the developer reiterated that it will continue to support the game with new features that make playing it from home fun.
