In multiple reviews, the WH-1000XM3s are rated extremely high, with heaps of praise poured on their audio quality, noise-cancelling capabilities and comfort. They even beat out some of the other big names in the space, such as the Bose QuietComfort series.

Of course, a quality pair of headphones like this is a great choice for gaming if the raft of illuminated gaming headsets do not float your boat and you’re focusing on single-player games. If using them on a console, you’ll have to connect them with a cable and the Bluetooth function isn’t fully supported (even on PS4). And you’ll need a separate mic, hence the focus on single-player games. Hopefully, this connectivity will be improved with the PS5. Outside of games, though, they also serve brilliantly as an all-round choice. Whether you’re watching movies, listening to music or just want to shut the outside world out for a little while.

The price cut comes following last week’s launch of the newer WH-1000XM4s, which are currently selling for over $100/£100 more. Granted, they come with a few new features, including the ability to pair to more than one device at a time and improved noise-cancelling. However, the WH-1000XM3s are still a terrific set and much better value for money at their discounted price.
