The VMComputers mod is well-known in the Minecraft community for its implementation of in-game computers that actually work. A Reddit post from last month broke down how the mod works, and explained the process of ordering computer parts from space. Since then, one player took to Reddit in order to share the fact that they’d managed to run Doom in Minecraft. So basically, they built a computer inside a game on their real computer, and managed to play a different game using the virtual computer constructed in the game they’re playing a game within. Make sense? It comes as no surprise, really, especially when you consider that a YouTuber named Fundy managed to play Minecraft in Minecraft earlier this week. The player who posted the video of Doom in Minecraft acknowledged this in a comment, noting that while it’s possible, not all rigs will be able for it. “You gotta have a powerful PC,” DrunkMate wrote. “XP is kinda laggy but still usable. I even tried to do that, installed Java etc but it’s asking me for Graphic Drivers. Honestly i don’t think that’s possible but ima try harder tho.” Doom, on the other hand, is much easier to run. Two years ago some madman actually managed to install it on a Samsung smart fridge. Imagine, you’re absolutely dying for a glass of orange juice and all of a sudden you’re getting Doomed out of your head. How are you supposed to make dinner when there are demons knocking about your fridge door? Anyway, building a computer in Minecraft is actually relatively easy. You craft an ordering table using obsidian and some other bits, which you can use when a satellite programmed to orbit the earth five times a day is floating above you. So yeah, order your parts from space and voila, you’ve got yourself an in-game PC capable of running Doom in Minecraft. Magic.
